Villa Moorings, located just outside the center of the small Tuscan town of Barga, close to Lucca, was built almost a century ago, back in 1924. This was the time in which Art Nouveau (Liberty in Italy), in all its various forms, dominated art and architectural design throughout Europe. Villa Moorings was built according to the latest trend by the Castelvecchi family who, after years of working in Scotland, returned to their native town of Barga so as to realize a magnificent holiday home here.
The antique furniture, pavements in glass chip mosaic, lamps from Murano, hand woven carpets from Florence, banisters in wrought iron, and artwork by the Barga-born painter Bruno Cordati: each and every detail of Villa Moorings, recently transformed in elegant hotel, is the perfect expression of Italian Art Nouveau or "Liberty" style. The same elegance which characterizes the hotel's public rooms can be found in the light filled guest bedrooms.
Location
Hotel Villa Moorings is located right next to the historic center of Barga, in the centre of the new town, but is very private and reserved surrounded by 5.000 square meters of a large and magnificent garden with private parking and swimming pool (7×14) with hydro massage.
Barga is a pretty little town close to the medieval city of Lucca and more than worthy of its recent inclusion in the list of "Most beautiful Italian towns and villages". Barga is situated in the Serchio Valley: in an area of Tuscany of immense historical and environmental importance. The Garfagnana, the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the Apuan alps, the Versilia's Tuscan coast, and the city of Pisa, are, in fact, all within easy reach of the hotel.

Villa Moorings offers 12 rooms each different, distinguished by 2 styles (rustic and liberty) recently restructured, spacious, bright, furnished with taste , you will find them most welcoming .
The Liberty styled rooms still conserve some of the characteristic elements of the past, whilst the rustic rooms offer a warm and delightful atmosphere.
2 junior suites ( Nonno Lio on the first floor and Giuditta on the 2nd floor) with private balcony and priviliged views of the Omomorto (part of the Apuan Alps) furnished with period furniture belonging to the Villa.
1 junior suite (Nonno Rì on the 1st floor) also furnished with original period furniture, bath ,wash hand basin and fittings.
2 rooms with private facilities on the 1st floor(Gelsi and Emma), parquet and private terrace;
2 rooms with private facilities on the 1st floor (Tizy and Pino) with original marble grit flooring and large windows;
1 room with private facilities on the 2nd floor (Biba) rustic that offers a warm and delighful atmosphere;
the family rooms on the 2nd floor (Lolly and Panfila - Kila and Kelope), rustic, connected, with one private bathroom, that are the perfect accommodation for families.

Booking in advance Villa Moorings offers the possibility of lunch or dinner with a different menu to choose from each day.
Lunch can be booked up until 10am and dinner until 3pm on the desired day.
Villa Moorings also organizes evening meals with set menus and live entertainment, all bookings are taken in advance.
